The annual Eastern Zone Speech Competition was hosted by Macleans College on the evening of Thursday 22 September. Six local high schools competed, with three talented students representing Pakuranga College. The Year 9 and 10 finalists were the winners of the inter-class speech competition held in Week 4 of this term.

Year 9 student Moana Tanuvasa, presented a heartfelt and engaging spoken word speech on identity and placed 3rd in the Year 9 competition. Year 10 student Abby Plom, presented an impressive and enthralling speech on gender equality and won 1st place in the Year 10 category.  Year 11 student Nadia Mistry, gave a well-researched and engaging speech on mental health and placed 2nd in the Year 11 division.  It was a highly successful evening for our students – congratulations!
