Laboratory Technician
Permanent Position, Term Time Only
We are seeking to employ a Laboratory Technician to work alongside our current Laboratory Technician in our Science Faculty. This is a permanent part-time position for 20 hours per week, in secondary term time only.
Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement and this position has been graded as Grade 2 of the Science Technicians Pay Rates and the step will be based on experience.
The position will include tasks such as:
- Collaboration with the Science Faculty.
- Preparing equipment for practical tests and internal assessments.
- Delivering chemicals and equipment to laboratories or designated area.
- Checking and updating the RiskAssess ordering system.
- Managing hazardous substances appropriately, including disposal.
- Regular safety audits of technicians area and chemical store.
- Inventory checking of equipment and resources including term stocktaking for restocking.
- Assisting with the use and maintenance of equipment.
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment and glassware.
- Preparing chemicals and solutions.
- Preparing and maintaining standard sets of materials and equipment.
- Assisting teaching staff in class when required.
- Ordering of goods and checking deliveries received to invoices.
- Administrative duties for the faculty, such as photocopying, laminating, trip bookings etc.
The successful applicant will have:
- A passion for science.
- A suitable qualification and experience in a laboratory.
- An interest in working with young people.
- The ability to work both independently and as a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – verbal and written.
- Planning and organisational skills to meet deadlines.
- A can-do attitude.

Dance and Drama Teacher
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Dance and Drama teacher to join our vibrant and well-established Arts Faculty. This is a full-time, 1-year fixed-term position commencing 10 August 2026 and concluding 20 August 2027. This position is suitable for beginning or experienced teachers.
Pakūranga College has an extensive Performing Arts programme with strong student involvement in school productions, dance showcases, and regional events. The successful candidate will have the capability to teach classroom Dance and Drama across a range of year levels. Additionally, the ability to support other subjects within the broader Arts Faculty would be considered a strong advantage.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A strong understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum in Dance and Drama.
- Enthusiasm for contributing to and developing co-curricular performance opportunities.
- The ability to connect with and inspire a diverse range of learners.
