Dance and Drama Teacher

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Dance and Drama teacher to join our vibrant and well-established Arts Faculty. This is a full-time, 1-year fixed-term position commencing 10 August 2026 and concluding 20 August 2027. This position is suitable for beginning or experienced teachers.

Pakūranga College has an extensive Performing Arts programme with strong student involvement in school productions, dance showcases, and regional events. The successful candidate will have the capability to teach classroom Dance and Drama across a range of year levels. Additionally, the ability to support other subjects within the broader Arts Faculty would be considered a strong advantage.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A strong understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum in Dance and Drama.
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to and developing co-curricular performance opportunities.
  • The ability to connect with and inspire a diverse range of learners.

Head of Department: Pegasus Learning Centre

We are seeking a compassionate and organised leader to take on the role of Head of Department: Pegasus Learning Centre.

The Pegasus Learning Centre is a vital part of our Student Services Faculty, providing specialised support and tailored learning for our students with high and complex needs. Reporting to the SENCO, you will lead a dedicated team of teachers and teacher aides, ensuring an inclusive environment where every learner can succeed.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Pedagogical leadership: A commitment to delivering high-quality curriculum within the unit while coordinating individualised timetables and student programmes for high-needs learners.
  • Team management: Ability to lead and support Pegasus staff, overseeing professional development, teacher observations, and behavioural management processes.
  • Holistic student support: Proficiency in managing IEPs and “One Plans,” and coordinating daily logistics such as taxi arrangements and EOTC activities.
  • Collaboration and advocacy: Strong communication skills to liaise with college-wide staff, whānau, and external and community partners.
  • Transition success: A focus on student pathways, working with entities to support students as they transition beyond the college.

English Teacher

We are seeking a passionate and skilled part-time English teacher to join our vibrant and well-established English Faculty. This position is part-time for 12 contact hours and an additional three paid non-contact hours, giving a total of 15 hours per week.  

Pakūranga College has a collaborative and dynamic English Faculty that focuses on building critical thinking and literacy skills in all students. The successful candidate will have experience in classroom English teaching across a range of year levels and abilities, and a willingness to support a variety of English pathways.
