Last week, selected students competed at the Counties Manukau Secondary Schools Tennis Tournament and had some awesome results! See below:

Jordan Performs Strongly at Athletics Champs

A big shoutout to our incredible Kauri Whānau athlete, Jordan Viljoen! She was at the Jennian Homes New Zealand Track and Field Championships last week, competing up a level in the Women’s U16 category, and delivered an amazing performance.

She soared into the Long Jump finals, clinched 4th in High Jump, and conquered the Hurdles with not one but two new PBs! Her relay team also claimed bronze in the 4x100m Relay! Awesome determination and skill, Jordan!

Ultimate Frisbee Flinging Disks at Nationals

Last week, our Girls’ and Boys’ Ultimate Frisbee teams embarked on an exciting journey to the NZ Secondary School Ultimate Championships in Taupō. Both teams fought hard, with the boys’ efforts landing them a spot in the semi-finals! Congratulations to everyone who participated!

Futsal Boys Competing in Regionals

Our Futsal Boys’ team is currently participating in the Northern Region Football Secondary Schools Futsal competition, in the Auckland Central Hub. One Friday 15 March, they showed their skill and determination against King’s College Mana, securing a fantastic 7-2 victory. Way to go team!

Regan Smith 1st in NZ for 16 Boys Grade BMX

Year 11 student Regan Smith competed in the BMX NZ National Championships in Hawke’s Bay last weekend and dominated the competition, placing 1st in multiple races, including the 16 Boys’ final.  He is now ranked 1st  in New Zealand for his grade! Congratulation Regan!

Junior Boys Cricket off to Finals

Our Junior Boys’ Cricket team gave it their all in the semi-final against Green Bay High School and emerged victorious. With a nail-biting finish, they clinched victory by one run! Unfortunately their final was postponed due to the weather, best of luck when the weather clears!

Blake Mitchell Hits Half Century in Runs!

On March 9, in an epic match against Liston College Mataī student, Blake Mitchell, absolutely stole the spotlight, hitting a half-century before retiring. To top it off, the boys won the game by 40 runs. A massive congratulations to you Blake!

Margot Claims Top Spot in Female U20 at Maraetai Half Marathon

Huge congratulations to Nīkau athlete, Margot Schmidt, for her outstanding performance at the Maraetai Half Marathon! Margot not only finished with an impressive time of 01:42:08 but also claimed the top spot in the Female U20 category and ranked 15th overall among female participants. Way to go, Margot!

Maeve McDonnell Making Waves Across Aotearoa
Last weekend was monumental for superstar swimmer Maeve McDonnell from Nīkau! Representing Pakuranga College at the NZ Secondary Schools Open Water Champs in Rotorua, she showcased incredible skill and determination! Check out her outstanding results:
1st in the 3.5km race with a time of 51:16.
3rd in the 1000m race with a time of 14:35.
2nd in the 500m race with a time of 7:20.
Maeve dominated her age group, clinching medals in all three events! She also rocked the Banana Boat NZ Swim Series Amphibian event, securing 2nd place with a time of 57:29! Champion effort Maeve!
Galloping to Victory at the Pegasus Cup

Last week, we proudly sent three talented students – Zeina Aweidah (Kauri), Lottie Currell (Pōhutukawa), and Courtney Stopforth (Nīkau) – to the Pegasus Cup equestrian competition. A special shout out to Courtney Stopforth for not only securing a spot in the finals but also cinching an impressive 2nd place in the 60cm Equitation Final!

Congratulations to Zeina, Lottie, and Courtney for their outstanding representation of the college at the Pegasus Cup.

Messiah and Simon Preparing to Rep NZ for Baseball

Messiah Tuhoro (Pōhutukawa) and Simon Aukett (Kauri) are showing no signs of slowing down with their astounding baseball careers to date. The pair recently competed at the Baseball National 16U Champs tournament, where through the Howick Pakuranga Baseball Club, they clinched a 2nd place finish.

Messiah is representing New Zealand this Easter at the Asia Pacific and Middle East Little League World Series qualifier, with the tournament winner heading to the World Series in the USA. New Zealand is hosting this for the first time ever, at local ground Lloyd Elsmore!

Simon’s team has to beat Wellington for the right to represent New Zealand in the JLB Asia-Pacific Region Tournament in June.
