12 Aug Laiken Represents NZ in Aerobic Gymnastics

Year 9 student, Laiken Neaves recently travelled to Phoenix, Arizona to represent New Zealand at the 30th ANAC Aerobic International Championships, which were held at the end of July.

Laiken completed her individual routine in aerobic gymnastics, wowing the panel of international judges with her outstanding strength and dynamism, and gaining her 18th place out of a massive field of 66 competitors, from 16 countries. This result placed her second in the New Zealand entries for her category.

Laiken’s coach Laura Furse of Rise Aerobics (based at Red Studio in Howick), is a former Pakuranga College student. She herself placed 2nd in the ANAC 2018 Senior Women’s category and has represented New Zealand at multiple international competitions, including the World Championships. She commented, “For her first ever performance on a world stage, we are extremely proud of Laiken for placing within the top third of a field of world class athletes. And we know this is only the beginning of her international aerobic gymnastics career!”
