Year 13 students Amelia McKenzie, Abi Robertson, and Sandra Thompson have been busy sharing their knowledge with other female students in Year 9-11 at the college, successfully running a Women in Business programme in Terms 2 and 3.
Their goal for these sessions was to expose younger students to business concepts such as branding, marketing, and target audiences. In the sessions, the participants designed phone cases, outlining thought processes and research for their unique design choices, before identifying target markets and planning how best to reach them through marketing.
The Women in Business programme left the girls inspired, with many opting to take Business Studies next year. They clearly enjoyed the sessions based on the feedback they shared:
“WIB has made me more confident in sharing my ideas and believing that I can achieve my goals. It has also increased my interest in business and entrepreneurship because I realised that I can turn my creativity and ideas into something meaningful and potentially build it into a real business.”
“WIB has made me excited for Business Studies next year and has made me start thinking of what business I could create. Giving me a better understanding of how to run a business is hopefully going to make me more successful for market day.”
“WIB influenced my interest in business, leading me to choose Business Studies as a subject for next year.”
“WIB has provided a safe space for me to be able to grow in my confidence, and it has influenced me to pursue business through showing what it’s like to be a young business owner.”
“I would recommend WIB because it’s an amazing way for young girls to be inspired by strong women around their age, and it influences them to pursue what they enjoy and grows their confidence. As well as this, WIB is a great way to make new connections with like-minded girls.”
“IT WAS AMAZING! I actually had so much fun and learned so much. I would do it over and over again!”
A massive thank you to Amelia, Sandra, and Abi for leading such an incredible programme. The participants now have an awesome foundation to grow their business aspirations!
