Commonwealth Games-Bound Alumni

Two past Pakūranga College students will be competing in the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games at the end of July!

2025 alum, Mia Laban, will be representing the Cook Islands in swimming at her first Commonwealth Games, aged just 18 years old! Mia has also been offered the Olympic Solidarity scholarship from the Cook Islands Sports and National Olympic Committee for the next three years and will be on the pathway to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

2018 alum, Wendell Stanely, has also secured his spot to represent New Zealand in the Men’s 70kg Boxing event. This will be Wendell’s second appearance at the games, following his quarter-finals finish in the Men’s 71kg division at the 2022 event in Birmingham.

We are behind you all the way, Mia and Wendell!

We loved the spirit and high energy from all the players and spectators.
