Athletics
Over in Darwin, Jordan Viljoen of Kauri Whānau, has been competing in the 2026 Oceania Athletics Championships. Lots of training has gone into this event, and she has done New Zealand and the college proud!
- 1st place in the U18 Women’s 4x100m.
- 4th place in the U18 Women’s 100m Hurdles, with a personal best time in the heats and finals! Jordan was the highest-placing Kiwi, too!
- 5th place in the U18 Women’s High Jump, Jordan was also the highest-placing Kiwi in this event.

Hockey
Sam Lane
Our hockey teams were stoked to have a visit from current Black Sticks Captain, Sam Lane! He shared his wisdom from years of high performance in the sport, and taught new skills our players can use to level up their game.
Thank you, Sam, for offering your time to our young hockey players. This is an experience they won’t forget!
2nd XI Girls
Ka pai tō mahi to our 2nd XI Girls’ Hockey team who had a clean sweep a couple of weeks ago! The girls won 2-0 against Auckland Girls’ Grammar and had a 7-2 win against Ormiston Senior College.
A huge thank you to Pakūranga College 2025 alumna, Idelia Jacobsohn, for coaching the team to success!
Basketball
Our school basketball teams have been busy racking up wins over the past few weeks!
- U17A Boys had a 54-20 win against King’s College and won 37-34 against Saint Kentigern.
- U19 Boys won 15-8 against Dilworth.
- Junior A have won 45-42 against Saint Kentigern and 53-5 against Glendowie College.
- Junior B won 32-20 against Dilworth.
- Junior C have won 41-10 against Howick College and 36-27 against Macleans College.
Swimming
Maeve McDonnell of Nīkau Whānau has been selected to represent New Zealand at the 2026 World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships. She will be heading to Santa Fe, Argentina to compete at the beginning of September!

Football
Boys
Our 1st XI Boys’ Football team played a fierce game against Mount Roskill Grammar School. The boys fought hard until the very end with a 3-3 draw to finish the match.
And shout out to the 2nd XI Football boys who notched up a 4-3 against Rangitoto College!
Girls
Our 1st XI Girls’ Football team played an intense match against Avondale College. Our team took home the win with a final score of 2-1!
Netball
Netball Reps
Congratulations to Abre Nahu-Main (Nīkau) and Gracie Koloti (Kauri) for being selected into the Howick Pakūranga Netball Centre’s U14 Maroon team! And to Sienna Davis (Pōhutukawa), who was selected for the Howick Pakūranga Netball Centre’s U16 Maroon team.
- Our Senior team won 11-6 against Rangitoto College.
- Our Junior team won four of their five games, placing them at the top of their grade!
