Yachting

Annabelle Cartwright (Kauri) and Thomas Burrowes (Pōhutukawa) took to the seas at the College Sport Fleet Racing Regatta recently. Facing rough conditions and racing delays, the students still glided through the water with ease. A special mention to Annabelle for being the 2nd place female and claiming 5th place overall!

Volleyball
It’s a wrap on the volleyball season! Our girls’ and boys’ teams played some fierce matches and posted some awesome results. 
  • The Senior B Boys’ team won against Saint Kentigern and Howick College.
  • The Senior C Boys’ team won against Elim, Glendowie College, and Macleans College.
  • The Senior B Girls’ team won against Saint Kentigern and Macleans College.
  • The Senior C Girls’ team won against Botany Downs Secondary School, and Glendowie College.

A special mention to our Senior A Girls’ and Boys’ Volleyball teams for being promoted to the Southern-Eastern Grade after fantastic performances last year! There was lots of tough competition, but the teams held their own, winning multiple games!

  • Our Senior A Boys’ team won against Southern Cross Campus, Selwyn College, and Papakura High School.
  • Our Senior A Girls’ team won against Rosehill College, McAuley High School, Macleans College, and Ormiston Senior College

Thank you to all the coaches, student coaches, and staff who made this season possible. We couldn’t have done it without you as part of the team! We’re ready for more in Term 4!

Auckland Volleyball Senior Championships

Our Senior A Boys’ and Girls’ Volleyball teams also competed in the AKSS Volleyball Senior Championships earlier this month. The boys won against Birkenhead College, Selwyn College,  and Southern Cross Campus, finishing 11th in Division 2. The girls won against Auckland Seventh-Day Adventist High School, Green Bay High School, Rutherford College, and Kristin finishing 9th in Division 2.

Lily McClintock to Represent Her Club Internationally

Congratulations to Lily McClintock of Pōhutukawa, who has been selected to represent her volleyball club, Da’Cubs, at an International Volleyball League in the Philippines, taking place at the start of Term 2. Good luck Lily and team!

Triathlon
Ka pai to Maeve McDonnell, Travis Henderson, Austin Lin, and Henry Koo who competed at the AKSS Triathlon Championships on 10 March. It was the first triathlon event for all four and it wasn’t easy, but they smashed it!
Year 11 students had to swim 500m, bike 15km and run 4km and Year 13 students had to swim 750m, bike 20km and run 5km. Good effort team!
Cricket

Our 1st XI Girls’ Cricket team claimed the top spot in Pool B, winning their final against Howick College on Wednesday 18 March. The team scored 152/4 across 20 overs, beating Howick by 67 runs. Howzat!

Swimming

Maeve McDonnell of Nīkau is back at it! At the recent Auckland Long Course Swimming Championships, Maeve won silver medals in the 400m, 800m, and 1500m 14-15 Girls’ Freestyle events! You’re on a roll, Maeve, ka pai!

Ultimate Frisbee

NZ U20 Teams
A massive congratulations to ultimate frisbee stars Maia Panton, Billy Maui, Doris Wang, and Andrew Snijders, who have been selected for the New Zealand U20 teams, Kahu (women) and Katipō (men). The teams are travelling to Logronō, Spain in July, to represent the nation at the World Junior Ultimate Championships!

We wish you all the best as you prepare for the event. Let’s go team New Zealand!

Pakūranga College Girls’ Team
Starting off the season strong, our Ultimate Frisbee Girls’ team is playing Division 1 and have three wins from three games so far!

  • 5-2 against Baradene College
  • 17-1 against Botany Downs Secondary College
  • 16-1 against Epsom Girls Grammar

AKSS Championships
Pakūranga College had a very successful day at the AKSS Ultimate Frisbee Outdoor Championships recently. We sent five teams, which is the most we’ve ever had at a tournament! Here are our incredible results:

  • The B Boys’ team won the Spirit of the Game Award for great sportsmanship!
  • Our A Girls’ team won the Girls’ Division, finishing with two close games against Epsom Girls Grammar and Baradene in the semis and final.
  • The A Boys’ team dominated the Open Division, scoring 58 points over seven games and only conceding one point over the whole tournament. In the final, they won 8-0 over Westlake Boys High School!

A huge thank you to the big crew of alumni who came back to coach the teams: Daniel Schulz, Jamie Mead, Connor Nankivell, Daniel Shen, and Jasmine Gulanes.

Athletics
Jordan Viljoen competed at the 2026 New Zealand Track and Field Champs, where she posted amazing results in her events.
  • 1st – U18 Women’s High Jump with a jump of 1.68m.
  • 3rd – U18 Women’s 4x400m relay. She beat her personal best by five seconds in this event!
Way to win, Jordan! We are so proud of all your incredible efforts!
Karate

Congratulations Mayumi Maharamba from Kauri Whānau for winning two categories at the most recent Auckland Karate League Championships in the Kumite (sparring) and Kata (form) Female 12/13 Years Development divisions! She was presented with her certificates on 8 March.
