Taekwondo

Year 11 student Kevin Edwards has just returned from Croatia, where he represented New Zealand at the ITF Taekwondo World Championships. As the youngest member of the Junior Sparring team, Kevin was named team captain for their opening match against Canada, where he took the first bout and won 3–1, helping lead NZ to victory.

Facing world-class opponents in the next round, Kevin showed incredible courage and skill against Slovenia’s 2023 World Champion. Despite sustaining a minor injury that prevented him from competing in his next event, Power Breaking, Kevin’s leadership and dedication earned him a special mention from the New Zealand coaches and managers.

Kevin’s team placed 9th overall out of 22 countries in their division, with New Zealand finishing 4th overall in the tournament. A huge achievement and proof of Kevin’s hard work and mana!
