Premier Girls
Our Premier Girls’ Basketball team played the Northern Cup tournament over August 28 to 31, finishing in a stunning 2nd place!
Day 1:
- 84-41 win against Albany Senior High School
- 79-43 win against Western Springs College
Day 2: Quarter-Final
- 92-49 win against Manurewa High School
Day 3: Semi-Final and Final
- 56-55 win against Sacred Heart Girls’ College
- 49-78 loss against Kristin School
Unfortunately, the girls didn’t win their final, but still had a hugely successful tournament and the medals to prove it! Congratulations, team – you have done yourselves and the college proud!
National Reps
Congratulations to our basketball superstars who have been competing at various national tournaments throughout the year, representing Counties Manukau!

Football
1st XI Boys
Our 1st XI Football boys played in the Rex Dawkins Cup and showed excellent teamwork and skill.
Winning 7-0 against Sancta Maria, 7-0 against One Tree Hill and 1-0 against Tauhara at the start of the week, they claimed the top of Pool A. A tough 1-goal loss against Hillcrest High School saw the team just miss out on the quarter-finals, but they didn’t let that knock them down. They claimed two more wins to secure a spot in the Plate Final against Liston College. With no substitutes, our boys played hard, taking the final to a penalty shootout, but we were pipped 3-4 in a tense battle!
They placed 10th overall at the tournament this year, a seven-place improvement on 2025! Ka pai tō mahi, boys!
1st XI Girls
Ka pai to our 1st XI Girls’ Football team who played in the Kathy Seaward Tournament starting on August 31.
The girls started the week with a bang, winning 2-1 against Waitakere and 3-0 against Papatoetoe on their first day, but unfortunately a few close 1-goal losses followed. In the end, the team fought hard and rallied to a 5-1 win against Orewa College, then played King’s College, winning their final game in an 8-7 penalty shootout, to earn 13th place at the tournament!
Rugby
Ka pai tō mahi to our 1st XV Rugby boys for their awesome work at the Rugby at the Beach tournament. The boys finished as Division 3 champions!
A special shout-out to Reegan Barker, who was selected for jersey 13 in the tournament team at the end of the week. What an awesome achievement!
Hockey
Our hockey teams were on the road for Tournament Week in 2026! Our 1st XI Boys’ Hockey team played the Founders Cup in Palmerston North, while our 1st XI Girls’ Hockey team were in Wellington for the Jenny Hair Cup!
Our boys posted three wins and a draw to finish 2nd in their pool. They then met Scots College in the first round of finals, losing a close 0-1. In the second finals round, they came up against Tawa College, beating them 4-3 to claim 7th place overall!
It was a tough pool for our hockey girls, starting with a draw and then a series of close losses. However, in their first round of finals, they had an outstanding 8-0 win against Kapiti College. Their second round of finals saw the team lose a tense penalty shootout after posting a 1-1 draw against Taupo-nui-a-Tia College.
Netball
Our Premier Netball team competed in the UNISS tournament in Hamilton, showing amazing teamwork and sportsmanship throughout!
In pool play, the girls posted five wins and three losses before advancing to the semi-final round of the UNISS B Grade. Unfortunately, they suffered a tough 24-31 defeat to Pāpāmoa College and more heartbreak followed with a nail-biting 32-33 loss to Orewa College. Despite this, the girls showed incredible skills and technique, finishing 20th overall with smiles on their faces! We are so proud of this team!
And a huge congratulations to Year 13 player Lucy Smith, who was named in the UNISS Tournament Squad. Well done on this stunning achievement, Lucy!
Swimming
ASA Short Course Swimming Championships
Congratulations to Travis Henderson from Matāi Whānau, who competed in the ASA Short Course Swimming Championships at the end of August. He won two gold medals in the 15-year-old Boys’ 50m and 200m Breaststroke races! Let’s go, Travis.
Junior Open Water Championships
Maeve McDonnell from Nīkau has had a fantastic experience representing New Zealand at the World Junior Open Water Championships in Santa Fe, Argentina, from 3-6 September.
She finished 33rd out of 46 in the 16-17 age group for the 7.5km distance. She completed the race in 1 hour 42 minutes and 32 seconds and recorded a fantastic personal best, taking 3½ minutes off her previous best time.
Maeve also represented New Zealand in the Mixed 14–16 years 4 x 1.5km Relay, with the Kiwi team finishing in 12th position.
What a huge achievement and an incredible experience for Maeve to compete on the world stage and represent her country!
