Recently, our Year 12 Business Studies students took a trip to Spookers, New Zealand’s most iconic haunted attraction. As well as experiencing some scares, the main focus of the trip was to understand how Spookers keeps its employees motivated.
Our students had a presentation from Jason, the owner of Spookers and four staff, including the General Manager and actors. They shared with them what strategies and practices they use to help keep employee motivation high. Our students also learnt how Spookers incorporates Māori values such as whakawhanaungatanga (strong connections between staff and customers), mahi tahi (collaboration between actors and actor support managers), and kaitiakitanga (predator control for pekapeka in the forest).
This experience is a great way for our students to see their class learning brought to life in a real-world successful business. Thank you, Spookers!
