I was so excited when I heard about the Skills Trades Holiday Course opportunity, as I am interested in becoming an electrician. Since my dad is a sparky, I have always been curious about the work he does and think that it could be an awesome career opportunity for me as well.
Being a part of this programme allowed me to experience what it was like to become an electrician and learn skills I have never tried before to prepare me for this potential career pathway. Without this opportunity, I would have struggled to progress in this career as I had very little knowledge of the trade.
My favourite parts of the programme were the hands-on activities we participated in. I enjoyed practising different tasks and learning how to safely use electrical tools, plus the teacher made all the tasks fun and interesting. I also loved working with the other students in the programme who had the same passion as me and made the experience more enjoyable. A special mention to Dylan, who had more experience than I did, but took the time to share his knowledge and help me through the programme.
Overall, the holiday training was really great and was such a valuable experience. It has really motivated me to pursue my career in the electrical trade, and I am grateful to have been given this opportunity. I feel so inspired to continue working towards becoming a registered electrician just like my dad!
