Last week, Pegasus students spent time learning about Anzac Day. On Friday, they had a choice of one of two tasks – cooking Anzac biscuits or making Anzac wreaths. In teams, several batches of biscuits and three wreaths were made. The students had so much fun participating in these activities and loved learning more about Anzac Day and what it represents.

Student Quotes:

“The poppies are a symbol of what happened in Gallipoli. My choice was to be part of a team making a wreath, and I enjoyed that. We then went to Mr Merchant’s office to show what we had done and talk about what Anzac Day means.” – Ryan

“I liked mixing all the ingredients to make Anzac Day biscuits.  Eating them was good too.” – Manjot

“We coloured in the poppies red and made green leaves. Then we stuck them onto the circle to make a pretty Anzac wreath. It was fun.” – MacKenzie

“I liked working with other people to make Anzac cookies for other people.” – Dylan

“After we made the biscuits, we took them to some teachers and then to our Whānau Leaders in the Student Centre. I was nice to be able to share the biscuits.” – Josh
