As a kid I followed my sister around the house,
Copying her every move like a shadow,
Then I started school and I was no longer me; I was just her sister.
I didn’t mind because she was my sister and I wanted everyone to know.
Over the years we grew up and fought.
I still follow her footsteps but instead with music, clothes, games and more,
Like a curious puppy following its sibling.
But adulthood is catching up to us and she’s almost ready to open that door.
I’m the Kitty to her Lara Jean;
She’s my biggest supporter and I will be hers,
But I’ll miss being at school together.
Arguing and laughing every day,
Watching shows snuggled up when there’s stormy weather.
I’m jealous that she is becoming her own person.
I know I should be happy for her, and I am, I promise,
But sometimes I wish we were still 5 and 7;
Scared to start school but with my superstar sister I would annoy over the years.
She doesn’t know just how special she is to me;
She is my everything,
She saved my life many times,
I can’t imagine how much good she’ll do on her own,
I will love you forever, my amazing, talented, beautiful sister.
