Our Mathex students worked hard this year to improve their problem-solving and teamwork skills. In groups, they worked on past Mathex questions every week and have done quizzes and workshops. After many weeks of investigating patterns, shapes, and formulae to view mathematics from new angles, the teams were ready to compete in the Auckland Mathex competition halfway through Term 3. Through the dedication of the coaches and students, the sum of our efforts was multiplied and the product was a great success!

The night of the competition was exciting and suspenseful. The two Year 9 teams did incredibly well to score 55 and 70 points respectively, while the Year 10 teams’ hard work paid off with 75 and 80 points, amazing scores considering only one out of the 120 Year 10 teams reached 100 points!

A big thank you to Mr Wang, the coaches, and the students for making this possible; your constant dedication was truly the variable needed to make the formula of success.
