The Year 13 Biology zoo trip was an amazing experience. I learnt about animals from across the globe and how they interact with each other and their environment. The zoo caretakers explained how even the strangest behaviour or aspect of an animal is crucial to its survival. I saw red pandas hanging lazily in trees as well as native birds and lizards so unique they left everyone in awe.
The trip was more than just a fun outing, because I saw first-hand how the concepts and terminology we learn in class are applied in real life. Watching baboons groom each other and seeing flamingos display their brightest feathers, I was able to see how animal behaviours and adaptations help them survive successfully in their environment. It was amazing to see the science I learn in class come to life right in front of me.
