Three Pakūranga College music groups attended the KBB Music Festival last month, putting on some incredible performances. Over 55 schools across Auckland took part in the event, making it a festival full of talent.
Our Concert Band presented a repertoire they had been working on since the beginning of the year. Conductor, Mr Arthur, selected repertoire that adjudicators described as the best they had heard from the concert bands this year. Most importantly, the band broke their seven-year streak of Bronze awards and achieved a Silver Award, scoring 80 out of 100 against the festival’s criteria.
Our Jazz Band had also been rehearsing since Term 1 in preparation for the festival, and the band’s repertoire earned them a Bronze Award, while the Chamber Orchestra received a Highly Commended.
