Project

Talented Pakūranga College dancers competed at Project competition over King’s Birthday weekend in Mount Maunganui.

A massive congratulations to current students Ruby Muir, Sonia Poru, and Maddy Story, alongside alumni Bianca Poru and Emily Muir, who competed with their team, Republic (Red Studio), claiming the top spot in the mega crew division! Ruby and Sonia also competed with their other team, Retaliate (Red Studio), and won the varsity crew division!

The talented Peyton Haugh and her team, Kill Shøt, also took home 5th place in the varsity crew division. And, Emily Cooper and her team, Heist Varsity (Notorious Dance Company), placed 7th in the varsity crew division.

What moves – we are blown away by the dance talent at the college!

Hip Hop Unite

Congratulations to Riān Gounder from Mataī Whānau for placing 3rd in the Junior Duo category at the Hip Hop Unite National Qualifier alongside 2025 college alumnus and brother, Raūl! This means the boys will be competing at the world championship event in October, which is being held in New Zealand for the first time.

Riān also MC’d the battles that ran at this event when he wasn’t onstage competing, while Raūl served as a judge. What a talented pair!

Peyton Haugh Stars in Beast & Homies Performance

Congratulations to Peyton Haugh of Tōtara Whānau, who will be performing in the Beast & Homies show presented by Beast Dance Company at Q Theatre on 26 and 27 June!

Peyton has been with the company for two seasons, which is led by Corbyn Taulealea-Huch-Paselio (The Royal Family Dance Crew, HomeBase Dance, and performer alongside Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, and Rihanna).

Peyton is the youngest performer in the show and has been working hard with her team to put on an awesome performance. Everyone is welcome to come and support Peyton. The show will not disappoint!
