Congratulations to our super chef teams, Dylan Meynell/Jayden Du Preez and Ruan Van Biljon/Dean Harris, who recently competed in the National Secondary Schools Culinary Challenge South/East/West Auckland Regionals!

Students were tasked with producing a restaurant-quality dish from scratch within 45 minutes, using a range of mandatory sponsor products.

Ruan and Dean produced a beautiful dish of peri peri beef medallion, confit vegetables, crispy coral (flour-based, of course), garlic foam, buttered capsicum, and whiskey sauce. Yum!

Dylan and Jayden’s dish remains a closely guarded secret as they will need to reproduce it at the national finals! That’s right, these two have taken out the title for South/East/West Auckland, and will serve their winning dish, plus a dessert, to a team of judges in August. Good luck, chefs!

Thank you to our Food Technology staff who have spent many hours helping these contestants perfect the challenging technical components of their dishes, particularly Mrs Alwar and Mrs Jeyachandran. You are legends!
