Last year, Year 13 student Autumn McCaughan embarked on an unforgettable journey to Germany after being awarded a prestigious Goethe-Institut all-expenses-paid scholarship. Her destination was the stunning seaside town of St Peter-Ording in Schleswig-Holstein, located right on Germany’s North Sea coast.
Surrounded by vast sandy beaches, rolling dunes, and the fresh sea breeze, Autumn immersed herself in both the German language and culture. During her course, she met students from all over the world, building friendships while improving her speaking and listening skills in real-life situations.
“Being in Germany made everything feel real,” Autumn shared. “You’re not just learning the language—you’re living it every day.”
Following in Autumn’s footsteps, Year 12 student Milla Richards, has also been selected for this incredible opportunity and will be travelling to Germany in the upcoming holidays.
Her destination offers a completely different experience: the picturesque village of Benediktbeuern in Bavaria, nestled at the foothills of the Bavarian Alps. Milla will be staying in the historic Benedictine monastery, a place rich in history and surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery.
