Deputy Principals' Assistant and Administration Support

Permanent Position, 37.5 Hours Per Week, Term Time Only

Pakūranga College is seeking to employ a Deputy Principals’ Assistant and Administration Support to work with our Deputy Principals.

If you are an admin superstar who loves to provide a great level of service with strong attention to detail and communication, we would love to hear from you. This is a busy role where you will work at pace, often with deadlines and changing priorities, so to be a star you will be highly organised with your time management and also be solution oriented. You will bring attention to detail and take pride in being accurate in your work, delivering excellence to the team.

The role sits within our Administration team and reports to the Principal’s Assistant. This is a permanent position for 37.5 hours per week during secondary term time with additional hours during school holidays as required.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement. This position has been graded as Grade 4, and the hourly rate will be based on experience.

The position will include tasks such as:

  • Administrative support to the Deputy Principal team – including diary and calendar management, monitoring of communications, data entry and word processing.
  • HR support to the Principal’s Assistant.
  • Coordinate the onboarding and staff exit process including farewells.
  • Managing the police vetting process.
  • Assisting in other areas of the Administration team as required.

HOD: Learning Support (SENCO)

We are seeking a visionary and highly organised Head of Department: Learning Support (SENCO) to lead our dedicated Learner Support team. This is a significant leadership role within the college, overseeing a large, well-resourced department with excellent facilities and a dedicated team of specialist staff. 

Pakūranga College has a collaborative and dynamic environment that prioritises the success of every learner. The successful candidate will lead the management of resourcing, including facilities and budgeting, and act as a mentor for department growth. You will be the key liaison for external agencies, as well as a critical bridge between our Heads of Faculty, Whānau Leaders, and teaching staff to ensure neurodiverse students are well supported.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strategic leadership: The ability to manage the big picture of Learner Support, including departmental behaviour processes, NZQA Special Assessment Conditions, and strengthening partnerships with intermediate schools.
  • Expert advocacy: Proficiency in applying for external agency referrals and assisted technology to empower our high and complex needs students.
  • Staff mentorship: A passion for co-constructing curriculum and upskilling teachers.
  • Operational excellence: Strong skills in analysing student testing to deliver effective support, managing the onboarding of new learners, and overseeing the daily logistics of the department.
  • Cultural commitment: A deep commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the delivery of inclusive education practices.

Science Teacher

Permanent, full-time position

We are seeking a passionate teacher of Science to join our high performing and well-established Science Faculty. The successful candidate will teach Junior and Senior Science. Previous experiences teaching NCEA Level 2 and Level 3 Biology would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A strong understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum in Science.
  • The ability to connect with and inspire a diverse range of learners.
  • Be willing to embrace our digital learning environment and to contribute to the active cocurricular life of the school.
  • A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and inclusive education practices.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively within a team environment.
