what does the air look like
when i’m not there?
is it peaceful?
is it lonely?
do you miss me?
does the wind hold memories
of things we said to one another?
or do they drift aimlessly
through the cold breeze?
when i’m not there,
does the air breathe properly?
do you?
do you miss me at all?
and if i’m not there
to make sound in the space,
does the space
worry about me?
does it wonder
where i am?
does the dust settle happily
on the air lacking me?
does it savour the free reign
of our room?
what does it look like
when i’m not there?
the room,
my things,
my life.
do they still belong to me
if i’m not there?
or will they run away,
like you did?
is it cold by my heater?
is it warm on my bed?
under the blankets that aren’t mine,
where you now lay your head?
are the curtains flowing or still?
are the clouds outside heavy?
is it foggy? do you feel a chill?
and is your heartbeat steady?
i hope the air is peaceful,
and i hope you are too.
i hope the two of you don’t miss me
like i miss you.
