On Tuesday 10 March, the music students of Pakūranga College were entertained by a performance from Daniel Verstappen, a professional musician from Belgium.

While on his New Zealand tour, Verstappen found the time to stop by the kura and share his talents with us. Accompanied by New Zealand violinist, Dr Joseph Harrop, Verstappen played original pieces, re-imaginings of film music, and even composed a piece on the spot!

As well as playing music, Verstappen spoke about his career as a musician and how he utilises social media to aid it. This visit was an amazing opportunity for music students to learn and get advice from such a talented musician, and I’m sure everyone left the room feeling inspired.
