This year we are continuing with the senior group conferences for all Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13 students. This initiative, introduced back in 2014, helps to closely monitor student progress and achievement and also build stronger relationships between yourself and Pakuranga College.
What is a group conference?
It’s a meeting between yourself (parent/caregiver), your child and the significant adult here at the college, your child’s tutor. We know that when all three groups work successfully together we can achieve positive outcomes.
The conference lasts 20 minutes and will cover a range of topics including;
When is it?
It’s on Thursday 3rd March, 1:00pm – 8:00pm. You can select your 20 minute appointment at any time throughout this time slot that is convenient for you.
How do I book my conference?
Bookings are now live and can be made for Thursday 3rd March. We are using the online booking system that we normally use for parent teacher interviews;
Our Careers staff are also available throughout the conference day. If you would like to make an appointment, you can select their details from the drop down “Tutor” menu, select either Miss S Ward or Mrs P Faamalepe.
We want all parents/caregivers to attend the conference; it is a really important meeting. If for any reason you are unable to attend, then we would like a significant adult to attend with your child. This could be an aunt or uncle, a grandparent or a family friend.
To be able to have the staff available for the group conferences we need to suspend senior classes for the day and reduce the Junior classes.
On 3 March Senior students are required to attend school only for their group conference; the rest of the day they are to work independently.
Year 9 and 10 Students will attend as normal until 12.30pm when they will be released. We realise that this can be difficult for parents arranging supervision etc, so the school library will be available (and supervised) for students who need to stay at school until 3.15pm.
