Maori & Pasifika Student Support Person
Part time position, up to 25 hours p/w during term time only
We are currently seeking to employ an enthusiastic person who is able to relate to and communicate with our Maori and Pasifika students and their family/whanau. Previous experience working with students of secondary school age would be desirable.
Hours of Work: The role is 25 hours per week, term time only. The hours of work will normally be 9.00am until 3.00pm with an hour lunch break.
There is some flexibility regarding the hours of work and on occasions will require evening work, in particular to attend the Maori whanau meetings and the Pasifika Parents Fono.
Reporting to: the Deputy Principal in charge of Maori and Pasifika Achievement
Working relationships with: Deputy Principals , Teachers in charge of Maori and PI achievement, Maori and PI development teams, Deans, Subject Teachers and Parents
The role will include:
Regular meetings with Maori and Pasifika students, individually and in small groups to monitor progress.
Carrying out goal setting with targeted Maori and Pasifika students.
Liaising with teachers in charge of Maori and Pasifika Achievement.
Liaising with teachers who are volunteer mentors for Maori and Pasifika students.
Regular communication with whanau of Maori and Pasifika students regarding progress.
Attending Maori whanau meetings and Pasifika Parents fono.
