Laboratory Technician

Part Time Permanent Position, Secondary Term Time Only


Pakuranga College is seeking to employ a laboratory technician to work alongside our current laboratory technician in our Science Faculty.


This is a permanent part time position for 16 hours per week, term time only.


Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective agreement and this position has been graded as Grade C.


The position will include tasks such as:

  • Collaboration with the Laboratory Technician
  • Preparing equipment for practical tests and internal assessments
  • Delivering chemicals and equipment to laboratories or designated area
  • Checking and updating the riskassess ordering system
  • Managing hazardous substances appropriately, including disposal
  • Regular safety audits of technicians area and chemical store
  • Inventory checking of equipment and resources including term stocktaking for restocking
  • Assisting with the use and maintenance of equipment
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and glassware
  • Preparing chemicals and solutions
  • Preparing and maintaining standard sets of materials and equipment
  • Assisting Teaching Staff in class when required
  • Ordering of goods and checking deliveries received to invoices
  • Attending field trips when required


The successful applicant will have:
