First Aid Officer – Sole Charge of Sick Bay

Permanent Position, 30 Hours Per Week, Term Time Only

Pakuranga College is seeking to employ a First Aid Officer to manage the day to day operations of the sick bay.


This is a permanent position for 30 hours per week, secondary school term time only.


Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement and this position has been graded as Grade C.


The position will include tasks such as:

  • Attending to sick/injured students
  • Liaising with caregivers
  • Attending to sick/injured staff
  • Accident and emergency treatment and referral
  • Maintaining a full accident register
  • Maintaining student health records on Kamar (student management system)
  • Managing first aid kits, AEDs and medicines
  • Review and assess new student health requirements
  • Liaise with the community health sector
  • Being a member of the Health and Safety Committee
  • Managing the sick bay requirements including the budget


The successful applicant will have/be:

  • A current NZ practising certificate or an advanced first aid certificate
  • A passion for working with young people
  • A sound understanding of professional ethics
  • An understanding of and practice of confidentiality and advocacy
  • Empathetic to the needs of young people
  • Efficient time management skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team but also independently
  • Computer literate with excellent written and communication skills
  • A current drivers licence

Teacher – Special Education

Full Time

We are currently seeking a qualified teacher who is passionate, caring and enthusiastic to work in our Learning Support Department. This department caters for wonderful and vibrant students from Year 9-13+, with various special needs and talents.   This is a permanent, full time position.

The candidate could have experience in special education, but this is not necessary.  Primary or secondary trained teachers are welcome to apply. It is essential that the candidate is flexible with the needs of our students and ready to deliver authentic learning programs. A positive attitude is a must, and a sense of humour is just as important.  Excellent people skills are a necessity.
