Homestay Co-Ordinator

Fixed Term, Part Time Position

We are seeking to employ a Homestay Co-ordinator to work in our International Student Department.

This is a fixed term part time position for 15 hours per week that will involve some work during the evening, weekends and school holidays.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement and this position has been graded as Grade C and the hourly rate will be based on experience.

 

The position will include tasks such as:

  • Supporting students and their host families
  • Visiting potential and current homestay host families
  • Meeting reporting requirements of the Code of Practice
  • Compilation of student profile information
  • Liaising with students and homestay hosts
  • Emergency contact on rostered weeks
  • Working from home

 

The successful applicant will have:

  • The ability to relate to teenagers from all cultures
  • Previous experience with Homestay placement (not essential as training provided)
  • Knowledge of the Code of Practice for International students and relevant Ministry of Education guidelines (not essential as training provided)
  • The ability to work both independently and as a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – excellent written and spoken English
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Planning & organisational skills
  • Full drivers licence and vehicle

Teacher Aide

Fixed Term, Term Time Only

Pakuranga College is seeking to employ Teacher Aides to work in our Pegasus Centre and Optimal Learning Centre areas.

These are fixed term positions for 30 hours per week, during secondary school term time for the remainder of 2020.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement and this position has been graded as Grade B and the hourly rate will be based on experience.

The Pegasus position will include tasks such as:

  • Assisting students with life skills such as cooking, cleaning and being healthy
  • Assisting students with personal care and maintaining the dignity of students
  • Assisting teachers in academic lessons
  • Assisting teachers to develop and prepare teaching resources
  • Providing guidance to support the wellbeing of all students

 

The Optimal Learning Centre position will include tasks such as:

  • Working with students with learning needs
  • Attending timetabled classes with students
  • Supporting the needs of students

 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Empathy, tolerance and diplomacy
  • The ability to remain calm and in control
  • A proven history of working with young people
  • Attention to detail
  • The ability to work both independently and as a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – verbal and written
  • Excellent computer skills
  • A can-do attitude
