A delegation of Pakūranga College students attended the Model United Nations Assembly on May 16 and 17. Read below for a recap of the event from students.

“A day at MUNA is always filled with lively, heated debates, passionate points of information, and the joy of connecting with like-minded peers. Each time I attend, I learn something new about a country I previously knew little about. It’s an incredible opportunity to broaden my understanding of international affairs and diplomacy – fields I hope to pursue as a future career. But what I enjoy most is meeting other young people who share my enthusiasm for civics and politics. There’s something so inspiring about being surrounded by others who are just as engaged and curious as I am.”

Abby Plom, Year 13

“The two days I had at MUNA, allowed me to fully immerse myself in the reality of being a delegate of a country. It showed me how important it is to know what you are talking about in order to not get caught off guard about the topic you are discussing, and how the way you deliver your speech impacts the amount of attention you gain from the audience you’re presenting to. Overall, it was an eye-opening experience that helped open the door for me to explore this type of career path in the future. I would highly recommend MUNA to anyone interested in politics and global issues.”

Paul Bazar, Year 13

We thank Pakūranga Rotary for financing our delegates, Rotary Districts 9910 and 9920 for organising the event, and Rosmini College for hosting.
