Year 13 Visit Auckland Art Gallery

21 Mar Year 13 Visit Auckland Art Gallery

Year 13 Art Students experienced a wide range of traditional and contemporary art in a recent visit to the Auckland Art Gallery.

Students had the opportunity to enjoy placing colorful stickers on every surface in international artist, Yayoi Kusama’s interactive exhibition and were entranced by a mobile of electric fans and fluorescent lights.

Another favorite was Rock Drop by New Zealand’s Venice Biennale artist, Judy Millar. Worksheets and phones were used to document and gather research and images, which will become part of internal assessment work in Painting, Sculpture and Art History.

For some students, it was their first visit to this award winning gallery.

“It is always a pleasure to take Pakuranga College students to the gallery as they represent the school through our learning habits of Respect, Connect and Reflect.” said Frank Woodward of Visual Arts Department at Pakuranga College.
