Year 10 Subject Selection 2023

01 Sep Year 10 Subject Selection 2023

On Monday of this week our current Year 10 students had a Subject Selection assembly.  The students received guidance on how to select their subjects for 2023 and a hard copy of the 2023 Subject Flow Chart. Current Year 10 students must submit their 2023 subject choices by 4.30pm on Friday 9 September.

Students will use the platform called SchoolPoint to view course information and submit their choices.  Students will need to sign in to make their selections.

As a parent/caregiver, you can access course information by clicking here and then on ‘Learning Areas’.  Please note that the SchoolPoint homepage has a short instructional video and other useful information to guide you in doing this.

We encourage students to talk to their subject teachers about the courses on offer next year. They should consider whether they will enjoy the course, what they want to achieve in that subject, and where the course will lead – both while at school and once they have left.

Each Year 10 student will have a one-to-one interview with a career advisor after they have selected their subjects.  Students should do their own research using www.careers.govt.nz in the first instance. This encourages students to be proactive and take ownership of the process.  During the one-to-one interview, students will have the opportunity to review and edit their selections based on the advice they receive from the career advisor.
