World Vision Youth Conference

06 Apr World Vision Youth Conference

On the 31st of March, 8 students from the Interact Council Executive team at Pakuranga College had the opportunity to attend a youth conference for World Vision. It was an incredible and eye-opening experience which inspired these students to take action and make as much of a change as possible. The conference was very appealing to the young generation. It was easy to engage with the speakers as they were young people just like us with a passionate heart for the world we live in.

Through this conference, we were all rejuvenated and hyped for this year’s upcoming 40 Hour Famine. Pakuranga Interact council is hoping to take away the values from this conference and put them to good use within our own school. We hope to really get the entire school involved in this year’s 40 Hour Famine that is taking place from June 9th-11th and make a big impact together. We were truly saddened by how serious the Syrian refugee crisis is and we are determined to do our part. We wish to spread this passion, this urge to make a change, to the students at our school and bring what touched our hearts at this conference back to our peers.

This year the students hope to unite as a powerful group with the same fiery heart for those in need. We aim to achieve a great goal by fundraising through many events as well as getting the student body involved with the 40 Hour Famine. We hold the power within us to help the powerless.

We would like to extend our thanks to Mrs Siljeur who organised and accompanied us on this trip.
