02 Mar Tutor Talanoa a Success
We enjoyed meeting our Year 9 Pasifika families last month, during a special talanoa at our Meet the Tutor events. It was wonderful to connect with aiga (families) and highlight the various opportunities that Pakuranga College offers to our Pasifika students.
Coming up we have events such as the Polyfest Speech Competition and Cultural Expo, as well as our hotly anticipated Cultural Night, all of which are open for students to join and participate in the college community. We are proud to have a Pasifika presence at the college through these events, and through our Pasifika Tutor class, Pasifika assemblies, and Junior and Senior Pasifika Leadership opportunities for students.
In 2023 we will celebrate the richness of our diverse Pasifika cultures through each nation’s respective language week, which is a chance for students to embrace and show pride in their culture and language. Pasifika aiga are also offered the chance to partake in our regular talanoa nights, and we can’t wait to see what successes come from our Pasifika students as a result of this engagement with families.
