Trees for Survival

18 Aug Trees for Survival

On 5th of August, 15 students from the Environmental Council made a trip to Clevedon. In association with Auckland Council’s Trees for Survival initiative and the land owners, they helped rehabilitate native vegetation in the Wairoa River catchment. It rained multiple times that day, but not enough to douse our spirits! We had an amazing time planting regardless of the weather and managed to plant over 500 new trees, grown at school from seedlings.

Luckily, everyone came dressed for the weather, bringing things like gumboots and raincoats…some resourceful students even brought swimming goggles!  Overall, it was an extremely fun experience.  It was a great opportunity to hang out with friends while also helping out a good cause and definitely something we’d love to do again!
