Te Whare Tapa Wha: Student Wellbeing with Safe School Council

14 Apr Te Whare Tapa Wha: Student Wellbeing with Safe School Council

The Safe School Council is focusing on Te Whare Tapa Wha this year. Te Whare Tapa Wha reminds us to take care of all the different aspects of our lives to support our wellbeing. We learned that amongst our peers there are growing levels of anxiety and stress over Covid, keeping up with school and the new way of learning, and coping with looking after our personal self, our family, and friends.

So we have decided to bring along some positivity and encouragement to our young people at school. We went around during lunchtimes, to various parts of the school grounds with the selfie frames, banners, and handing out little badges with lollies that we have made for our students. The badges have words of inspiration that we are hoping will uplift students’ self-confidence.
