08 Mar Take a Seat…Made by Our Students
Level 2 Building and Allied Trades students started the year with an interesting challenge. They were set the task of constructing picnic tables which are to be used at school for Pakuranga College students.
This week, they proudly displayed the fruits of their labour to Principal Michael Williams who was delighted with the results. Mr Dudley Young, who led the project said:
“I am very pleased with the enthusiasm the students are showing and also the quality of workmanship displayed in the final outcomes. This project has enabled students to build positive working relationships in the workshop. They showed a great deal of respect for each other by working collaboratively as well as striving to do their best and maintain the high standards which were set for them. I have no doubt that our students will continue to become good citizens if they continue with this attitude. This augers well for the future in the various trades.”
Students Stanley Farani, Jason Langi, Jacob Tuisalega, Melvin Tuulaupua and Bradley Robinson were clearly excited about the prospect of the benches being used by their fellow students, saying:
“It was really good work experience. We like helping out around the school and we want to help make the school better for other students.”
Mark Tuisalega added:
“It was an awesome experience. I have never made anything like this before and it’s great that our mates will get to use the tables.”
