      SWIMMING SPORTS 2018

              Information for the Inter-House Swim Team

In order to compete at swimming sports, you must see your Dean and be entered for an event prior to the day! Only the 60 students per house, who have entered with their Deans, will be allowed at the pool on the day.  

WHEN

Tuesday, 13th March – period 1 to 4 – Swimming Sports for Girls

Thursday, 15th March – period 1 to 4 – Swimming Sports for Boys

EVENTS

1 length freestyle

3 lengths freestyle       (If time permits)

1 length backstroke

1 length breaststroke

1 length butterfly

 House Relays – Junior Boys, Junior Girls, Int Boys, Int Girls, Senior

                                                                    Boys and Senior Girls

AGE GROUPS

Junior              13 years old on 1 January 2018

Intermediate    14 or 15 years old on 1 January 2018

Senior              16 years and older on 1 January 2018

WHO CAN ENTER       Anyone can enter any event providing they:

  • Have entered prior to the event with your Dean
  • Swim in the correct age group all day
  • Do not enter the same event in another age group
  • Can swim the stroke correctly and complete one length of the pool

 

WHO CAN BE AT THE POOL DURING THE DAY?  60 Competitors per house per day- all competitors will be issued with a house coloured wrist band, which they will wear until completion of the event.

  • BOYS ONLY ON THE BOYS DAY AND GIRLS ONLY ON THE GIRLS DAY.
  • The only exception to this will be the House Leaders.

WHAT TO WEAR?

FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM MUST BE WORN TO AND FROM SCHOOL

Students will NOT be released from the pool area unless they are in full uniform

– At the pool normal PE swimming gear. Swimsuit, and rash top.

WHERE TO SIT?          In your designated house area.

WHAT TO BRING?      Hats, shade, sun block, warm clothing, water to drink, lunch, something to sit on.

                                          There will be No interval – bring something to eat.

WHEN TO GO TO   POOL?

– Girls Day – All girls competing change and report straight to pool area, ready to start the first race at 8.40am

– Boys Day – All boys competing change and report straight to pool area, ready to start the first race at 8.40am.

*NOTE: All competitors must stay in the pool area for duration of the event. Students will remain in the pool area during interval.

WHAT YOU MUST DO!

– Report quickly to marshalling area when called. When called line up behind  designated house board to receive house entry points.

  – If receiving a place card report straight away to the recording table.

POINTS  

Heats

1 point for entering

1st = 3 pts        2nd = 2pts         3rd = 1pt

Finals and Relays

1st = 6pts         2nd = 4pts         3rd = 2pts

The 8 fastest swimmers advance to the final for each event – 2pts

CANCELLATION

Will be on the school website the previous evening and on the day of the swimming sports. If it rains on the day, you will attend school as per normal.

BRING YOUR SCHOOL BOOKS AS YOU WILL BE ATTENDING 5TH PERIOD
