It has been a busy few weeks for sport, with some significant student achievements in a variety of events:

Jiu Jitsu International Competition

Brandon Meyer competed at Pan Kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships in Long Beach, California, which is the worldwide event for minors. He fought the Teen 3 Middle weight division.  He had tough match against the eventual silver medalist and managed to bring home the bronze medal.

 

Aquathon (swim & run)

On 26th February, 9 students competed at the Aquathon Championships held at St Kentigern. Pakuranga College had 3 teams and 3 individuals in the competition. Two teams placed in the top 3: our senior mixed team of Phoebe Harris and Prem Sadia, and our senior boys team of Tyron Henry and Keanu Venter.

Central Western Zone Athletics

On 27th Feb 10 students travelled to Trust Stadium to compete in interschool athletics. Stand out results were:

  • Natasha Smith – 2nd 200m Int Girls and 1st 100m Int Girls
  • Sam White – 2nd 800m Senior Boys
  • Keanu Venter – 3rd 200m Senior Boys

 

Swimming Central Eastern

On 28th Feb our swimming team of 17 students competed at Diocescan School for Girls aquatic centre. Results as follows:

  • Ella Crowe (13 and under) – 3rd 50m Butterfly, 1st 50m Backstroke
  • Ryan Oliver (14-15) – 1st 50m Butterfly, 1st 50m Backstroke, 1st 50m Breaststroke, 1st 50m Freestyle
  • Tyron Henry (16-18) – 1st 50m Butterfly, 2nd 50m Backstroke, 1st 50m Breaststroke, 3rd 50m Freestyle
  • Joshua Kao (14-15) – 2nd 50m Backstroke
  • James Slessor (14-15) – 2nd equal 50m Breaststroke
  • Phoebe Harris (16-18) – 1st 50m Breaststroke
  • Michael Han (14-15) – 3rd equal 50m Freestyle
  • Open Boys 200m Fly Relay – 1st Place
  • Open Boys 200m Back Relay – 1st Place
  • Intermediate Boys 200m Breaststroke Relay – 1st Place
  • Intermediate Boys 200m Medley Relay – 1st Place
