CORE SPORTS NEWS
Our Premier 1 Netball girls had a great comeback win, showing a lot of resilience on Saturday morning. Facing fierce rival Marist, who they have had many tight games with over the last few years. Down by 7 goals in the 4th quarter, they managed to chase down the lead and win the fixture by 2! Well done!
Our 1st XV Boys Rugby continued their winning ways in a grudge match away from home. They too beat a school who we have built a rivalry over the last few seasons, downing Mt. Roskill Grammar 22-15. They look to continue their form vs Onehunga this weekend.
1st XI Girls Hockey went down to Papatoetoe and look to get back on track this week against local foe Sancta Maria.
1st XI Boys Hockey played one of the best teams in the country in Westlake Boys, and despite not getting the result they played hard and showed fight as the underdogs in the fixture.
1st XI Football Boys went down to a strong and physical Waitakere unit. The young team look to make amends this weekend, hosting north shore foe Rosmini College on field 1 at home.
Basketball Boys Senior A went down in a tough battle vs St. Peters late in the 4th Quarter. With 2 injuries to their forwards, they have been doing it tough without any size. Meanwhile the Senior A Girls showed good fight vs Epsom Girls, last years Senior A finalists, but could not match the experience shown by the EGGS outfit.
Rugby League 1st XIII played 2 back to back games last week. Showing positive signs in both fixtures, and scoring the first tries vs national powerhouse league schools, Kelston Boys and Southern Cross. However they were unable to sustain their performance throughout the late stages of the games, going down in both fixtures.
Thanks to all the staff involved in coaching, managing and supporting our teams and student athletes in 2019.
