05 Aug Sports Round-Up, Term 3, Week 1
After having a slow start to the season our 1st XI Boys are continuing to improve each week and are getting better at closing out their games. They came out with a 2 – 0 win on Saturday against Green Bay. With three rounds to go, they are peaking at the right time, looking to climb up the ladder to finish strong before their annual tournament.
Our Junior Boys A played Macleans in the Central Eastern Junior Final here at home last Wednesday. The boys have played well all season and last week was no different. They rose to the occasion and took the win 62 – 31, qualifying them for the Greater Auckland Champs. The boys will continue to work hard to prepare for the pinnacle event next week.
Last Thursday we hosted the Open Boys Final where our Senior Boys took on Dilworth in a tight 1 v 2 battle. There was a good crowd, which created a great atmosphere and both teams stepped up and showed their skill. It was close throughout the game and it was great to see our boys playing with passion and heart. In the end we couldn’t quite pull off the win, going down 41 – 39. Our boys now pick themselves up, get back to the drawing board and bounce back for Auckland Champs next week.
Year 10 Diamonds had a great win against Marcellin 24 – 12 on Saturday. It is great to see them building and they are enthusiastic moving into the last few games of the season.
Our biggest win of the week was our Year 10 Rubies, who have been consistently performing well all year. They played against Epsom Girls and dominated them for 4 quarters taking the win 52 – 5. Well done girls!
