02 Mar February Sports Recap
Our students have had some big wins to start the year, with 2023 shaping up nicely so far!
Swimming
This Tuesday (28 February), the Auckland Swimming Zonal Championships took place, with 23 Pakuranga College students (pictured above) competing in an intense and adrenaline-filled day. All of our students swam exceptionally well, with lots of placings. While we won’t know official times for a couple of days, the effort put in by the swimming team is prize enough! Congratulations to everyone who competed and good luck to those competing later in the Champ of Champs!
Orienteering
Our orienteering teams had their first day last Tuesday (21 February) at Farm Cove Intermediate. The teams fought hard and knocked it out of the park with some amazing results. Congratulations to the following competitors:

2nd: Annabelle Cartwright, 16.06 mins
4th: Sian Keating, 17.01 mins

Cricket
Our Junior Boys’ Cricket team has been enjoying a sensational winning streak. Their season opener against Mount Albert Grammar saw the boys fight hard to come away with a win, bowling MAGS out just 11 short of our total, howzat! Their second game against Saint Kentigern College also ended in victory for Pakuranga, finishing the match with seven overs and six wickets in hand. The boys then followed this up with a win against Macleans College last weekend.
Meanwhile, our 1st XI Boys’ Cricket team has yet to play after their games being rained off, but the weather looks good for a first game against Kristin on Saturday! Good luck to the team!
