23 Jun Students Shave for a Cure
On Friday 10 June, 14 very brave students and two supportive staff members shaved their heads for a cure, with all proceeds going to Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand. The shave took place in the hall with a huge number of students donating $2 to view the show, $5 to wield the clippers themselves, or $4 to wax the legs of willing participants.
Student support saw $771 raised on the day, with our ‘shavies’ raising a further $5,807 between them with the support of family, friends, and the wider college community. Just under $6,600 was raised in total, a truly phenomenal amount. Special congratulations to Year 10 student Teagan Phipps, who personally raised over $1000 with her shave. Thank you to the Service Council who worked tirelessly to make the event a huge success, and to make a difference in the lives of Kiwis with blood cancers. Thanks also go to Year 13 Joshua Joseph, who brought is barber side-hustle (JJ Fades) to the event, ensuring that our ‘shavies’ left looking tidy.
