Secondary Schools Swimming Champs 2021

05 Aug Secondary Schools Swimming Champs 2021

While most students were enjoying a relaxing holiday, our top swimmers were representing us with pride at the annual New Zealand Secondary Schools Champs. The team of 10 competed at the Sir Owen Glenn National Aquatic Centre from the 22nd – 25th July, going head to head with the best swimmers in the country; all vying for national titles in their age groups.

Once again, our swimmers put everything out there and rose to the challenge that a national competition presents. Not only did our team get numerous personal bests, but we came away with 10 medals and a few national titles. Congratulations to the following for medalling in their age groups:

James Slessor –  Gold 100m Breaststroke, Gold 50m Breaststroke, Bronze 200m Breaststroke

Michael Han – Silver 100m Free, Silver 200m Free, Bronze 100m Individual Medley

Mia Laban – Gold 50m Back, Silver 100m Back, Silver 200m Back

Kendall Oliver – Bronze 200m Fly

A special thank you to the whole team. We are proud of the way you represented us and the effort you put into swimming your best in every race. Also, to our seniors James, Michael, Sarita, Kendall, Ella and Nadia: you did a great job at leading the way and supporting both our junior swimmers and our wonderful team manager. Team manager, Tamara, thank you for being awesome – was privilege to be beside you at the 2021 Secondary Schools Champs!

We wish our swimmers all the best for whatever comes next, we look forward to hearing about many more successes!
