21 Oct New Zealand Secondary School Swimming Championships
From 15th to 18th October, nine swimmers competed and represented our school at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Swimming Champs in Hamilton.
It was great to get them back in the pool after a disruptive year, and they are one of our only teams to be able to compete on the national stage in 2020.
It was a long four days for the team, but they dug deep, did their best and finished with some good results. Two of our stand-outs were senior swimmers James Slessor and Michael Han. James took home two silver medals in 100m Breaststroke and 50m Breaststroke in the 16 years age group, while Michael gained five podium finishes with three bronze in 100m Individual Medley, 200m and 50m Freestyle and two silvers in 100m Breaststroke and 50m Breaststroke in the 15 years age group.
Congratulations to Michael and James, as well as our other swimmers who represented us well! We look forward to next year and seeing some more great results.
