06 Dec Mufti Day Raises Vital Funds for Worthy Causes
Total raised from the recent school Mufti Day was $1,225.50. Past Pak College pupil Sam Menezes asked for our help to support the Fiji Village Project, which will help to provide free health care services to locals. $500 was raised for this project which Sam is volunteering for, with the balance of $725.50 to go to the Auckland City Mission Christmas Appeal.
After attending Pakuranga College, Sam went on to study Nursing and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland, where she was accepted to participate in the Fiji Village Project 2018.
The FVP is a voluntary trip to rural Suvian villages where myself (and fifteen other medical and nursing students) will be providing free healthcare services to the locals. These villages currently do not have access to the same level of healthcare that we have in New Zealand which means that these people will have avoidable and easily preventable health conditions! We will do health check-ups to identify these, begin treating these, and give the villages new medical equipment and build them a new water supply so that they can continue to improve their health.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Mufti Day.
