Group Conference Year 10 – Year 13 / Thurs 22nd March

07 Mar Group Conference Year 10 – Year 13 / Thurs 22nd March

We are continuing with group conferences for all Year 10, Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13 students. This initiative helps to closely monitor your child’s progress and achievement and also build stronger relationships between yourself and Pakuranga College.

What is a group conference?
It’s a meeting between parent/caregiver, your child and your child’s tutor teacher. We know that when all three groups work successfully together we can achieve positive outcomes.

The conference lasts 20 minutes and will cover a range of topics including;
• Introductions between yourself and your child’s tutor teacher.
• A conversation and information about where your child is heading in terms of academic, co-curricular, attendance and plans for the future.
• How to easily access attendance and achievement information on your child
• Any questions/concerns that you may have as a parent

When are they?
There will be two group conferences this year; the first is on Thursday 22nd March, between 8:40am – 8:00pm. You can select your 20 minute appointment at any time throughout this time slot that is convenient for you.

How do I book my conference?
You book your conference online, just click here and type in the event code: dqe82. Site is now live for bookings for the above date.

All parents of Maori students are warmly invited to also make a time to meet with Mr Heemi Gilbert and Whaea Shanna Rope who have oversight of the whanau tutor, leadership, academic and cultural opportunities available at Pakuranga. Ms Pearl Sidwell (Maori and Pasifika Mentor) will also be available on the day; as well as the house Dean and our Careers staff.

We want all parents/caregivers to attend the conference; it is a really important meeting. If for any reason you are unable to attend, then we would like a significant adult to attend with your child. This could be an aunt or uncle, a grandparent or a family friend. Students will be expected to attend on their own if a significant adult is unable to be there for the conference.
