Yr 10-13 Group Conferences CANCELLED

March 19, 2020

CANCELLED – This is now a normal school day.

This is a very important day for Year 10 to 13 students as parents and students will have an appointment for an in-depth conversation with the tutor teacher.  There will be no classes on this day.  Year 10 to 13 students only come into school with their parents for their interview.  For the rest of the day we expect them to continue with their set classwork at home.

This initiative helps to closely monitor student progress and achievement and also builds stronger relationships between yourself and Pakuranga College.

The group conference is a meeting between the parent/caregiver), the student and the significant adult here at the college – your child’s tutor.  We know that when all three groups work successfully together we can achieve positive outcomes.

The conference lasts 20 minutes and will cover a range of topics including:

  • Introductions between yourself and the tutor by your child.
  • A conversation and information about where your child is heading in terms of academic, co-curricular, attendance and plans for the future.
  • How to easily access your child’s attendance and achievement information.
  • Any questions/concerns that you may have as a parent.

Students have been preparing for the group conference by reflecting on their achievements both at school and outside of school and where they think their future direction is.

Students are expected to wear uniform when they come in.  We still consider the day to be a school day and as such, students should still be doing their schoolwork.  Every class will have work set, which students are expected to access and complete.  One of the benefits of our approach to learning and the online environment is that learning can happen anywhere at any time.

If students don’t have internet access at home, they can come to school and work in the library or use the community library, which also has wireless access.

How do I book my conference?

Bookings are now live and can be made for Thursday 19th March.  We are using the same online booking system that we normally use for parent teacher interviews;

  • Go to https://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/code?
  • Event code: 3mq7j
  • Enter your details
  • From the grey tutor box select your child’s tutor teacher and click on the green “GO” box
  • Select the 20 minute time slot that you would like
  • Click “Go” to confirm

Thursday 19th March 2019 for Year 9 Students

There will be no scheduled Year 9 classes and students are not required to attend school.  However, we still consider the day to be a school day and as such; students should still be doing their schoolwork.  Every class will have work set, which students are expected to access online and complete.

One of the benefits of our approach to learning and the online environment is that learning can happen anywhere at any time.

If students don’t have internet access at home, they can come to school and work in the library or use the community library, which also has wireless access.

If you are unable to arrange appropriate supervision for your child, the school library is available for students to do supervised work.
