1. We intend to move into the zone later this year. Can I enrol now?
The enrolment legislation requires that you have a permanent address in zone before you enrol. Once you are living in your new address contact the school office to enrol. You are guaranteed a place at the college if you live in zone.

2. Will the college be accepting out-of-zone applications for levels other than Year 9 next year?
Unfortunately the college has a very large roll and we can not offer places at levels other than Year 9 for 2015.

3. How many out-of-zone places will be available?
The number of places is determined by our in zone intake. We expect that we will be offering approximately 100 out-of-zone places. These are determined by ballot according to the priorities set out in our enrolment scheme.

The following students have absolute right to enrolment at Pakuranga College :

All domestic students of secondary school age up to the age stated in law at which a free education ceases, who live within the home zone defined below:

  • Western limits are from the Tamaki River around the eastern boundary of St Kentigern College to the Pakuranga Main Highway so that Grammar School Road is included, then along Pakuranga Road to the Pakuranga Creek, with the northern side of the main highway included; along the line of the creek using Pakuranga Creek and its tributaries as the southern boundary as far as it can be taken, then taking a straight line to the intersection of Ti Rakau Drive with Botany Road, including those streets coming west from Botany Road and excluding Ti Rakau Drive and any streets coming from it.

If places are available, the following students may be accepted, with places offered in the following order of priority:

  • First Priority will be given to students who are enrolled in the Pegasus Unit. This unit offers special programmes that have been approved by the Secretary for Education. The criteria for entry to this unit are set out in the Board of Trustees’ Special Education Policy. Initial enquiries should be made to the Senior Manager in charge of the Pegasus Unit.
  • Second Priority will be given to applicants who have a brother or sister currently enrolled at Pakuranga College.
  • Third Priority will be given to applicants who have had a brother or sister previously enrolled at Pakuranga College. It is the applicant’s responsibility to produce for the school evidence of the sibling’s former attendance at the school. Such evidence could be a school report.
  • Fourth Priority will be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
  • Fifth Priority will be given to any applicant who is a child of an employee or board member of the Pakuranga College Board of Trustees.
  • Sixth Priority will be given to all other applicants.

If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11 G (1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.
