31 Mar Double Swimming Sports Crown for Kauri
Kauri Super Fish, Michael Han
After Kauri’s winning result in the Girls’ Swimming Sports two days earlier, the Kauri boys could be forgiven for feeling a little pressure. Not only to match the girls’ golden result, but to keep their own winning streak alive with a third consecutive Boys’ Swimming Sports title.
But Year 13 swimmer, Michael Han, described affectionately as Kauri’s “cheat code” was relaxed.
“I don’t feel the pressure, I know swimming’s my strong suit. I just try to do my best for my House. It’s the same for all my races, whether at school or in serious competition.”
Michael has reason to feel relaxed. Spending 12 hours in the pool each week, he knows he’s done the training required for top results, which he showcased by winning six individual events and one relay to be crowned the Senior Boys champion.
Michael will be in action throughout April at the New Zealand Swimming Championships and New Zealand Age Groups competition, representing Pukekohe Swimming Club. We wish him all the best.
