14 Apr Congratulations Maria Maivalenisau, Toloa Scholarship Recipient
The Toloa Scholarship was created with the aim of inspiring and supporting Pasifika students in their engagement with STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics). This is the first year the Toloa Scholarship was awarded to secondary school students, and we are proud that Year 11 student, Maria Maivalenisau was a successful recipient.
Having migrated from Fiji with her parents and three siblings in 2019, Maria discovered the Toloa Scholarship through an advertisement on Facebook, and was driven to apply to help her parents settle into Aotearoa. Maria is a proud Fijian who comes from the villages of Vuna and Navakava, in the province of Cakaudrove. As a scholarship recipient, Maria receives $2000, regular mentoring sessions, and a Toloa tote with associated merchandise, which was presented to her by Rimu Deputy Principal, Ms Clare Jennings.
Congratulations Maria on your incredible achievement. We look forward to further supporting you to learn, achieve, and thrive at Pakuranga College. Dui seva ga na bua ka tea. You will reap the flowers that you plant. Vinaka vakalevu Maria.
