01 Jun Charlotte Tukiri placed 3rd in the Junior English division at Regional Speech Competition
On Friday 4th of May, Whanau Tutor attended the Nga Manu Korero South and East Regional Speech Competition for 2018. Nga Manu Korero is a speech competition open to Māori students. It is a day where Maori students can connect with our culture and other schools.
As well as experiencing the vibe of the competition, Whanau Tutor also went to tautoko one of our speakers, Charlotte Tukiri. They supported her with the school haka after her speech. There was also the chance to listen to the other speakers and hear their passion for our culture. At Nga Manu Korero, new friendships were made, as well as us leaving with a richer appreciation for our surrounding Maori communities.
The day concluded with a good result for Pakuranga College. Charlotte Tukiri placed 3rd in the Junior English division, and was again supported by a passionate haka. Nga Manu Korero 2018 was a day of, learning, success and pride for the Pakuranga College Maori community.
We would to thank Mr Gilbert, Miss Sanders and Whaea Shanna for organising, giving up their time and supporting our trip.
Ngā mihi nui ki a koe Charlotte mō tō maia ki te tū ki te kōrero, Ka mau te wehi.
