08 Mar Careers Counselling & Education Available at Pakuranga College
At Pakuranga College we are focused on supporting your child to achieve their full potential. Our dedicated Careers Department is a huge part of that and a valuable resource for you and your child.
The Careers Department consists of two Career Advisors/Educators; Steph Ward (HOD) and Paula Faamalepe. As well as a Gateway Coordinator, Tascha Corlett.
Through the Career Education programme at the college, students are equipped to develop and build a range of career management competencies that enable them to be successful in our forever changing world. They learn to manage career decisions and opportunities in their lives and foster personal qualities. This is achieved through individual career counselling and in the careers teaching and learning programme.
We offer all Year 13 students an individual career counselling session along with other students who intend to transition from secondary school. We have a number of Universities and private providers who present to our students throughout the year. eg: NZ Defence Force, Police Force and ex-students sharing their experiences.
In our Gateway programme we offer students (Year 12/13) the opportunity to participate in work experience in their chosen career choice.
The Careers department have an open door policy and encourage both students and parents to pop in or to make an appointment. You can also follow the team on facebook for news and information about career opportunities; Pakuranga College Careers Facebook page
