On Wednesday, 7th March 2018, Pakuranga College are holding our Annual Athletics Day at Lloyd Elsmore Park.  This is a school wide event in which all students are expected to attend.

*If the event is cancelled due to bad weather, the reserve day will be Thursday, March 8th. Cancellation will be posted on the school website by 5pm on the previous day. A decision to cancel will be made the day before the event as the set up starts very early on the day. Parents and students will also be informed by e-mail. Students will then resume a normal school day in the event of cancellation.

TIMES

  • Students are required to report to their tutor at the track at40am for Roll Call. First events commence at 8.50am (Track Events) 8.50am (Field Events).

Students are NOT to come to school first.

  • After the last event, at approximately 3pm there will be a roll call and students will be released as groups from the track. This is of course an estimate and will be dependent upon the programme running to time.

ACCESS

  • Parents dropping students off or collecting them from the grounds are asked to use the Bell Road car park and not the entrance from Cascades Road.
  • Students crossing Pakuranga highway must use the pedestrian crossings at intersections controlled by lights.
  • Students are not permitted to leave the track at any time during the day. Should it be necessary for a student to sign out for an appointment they will be required to bring a note and sign out in the usual way from the pavilion by a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Students are to wear their Pakuranga College PE Uniform or House T-shirt/colours and should protect themselves from the sun with sunscreen and hats. They should also bring plenty of drinking water and food.  The canteen will be selling limited amounts of food and drinks at the track.
  • It is advisable to wear spikes or sports shoes, as the track can sometimes cause cuts or blisters.
  • If students ride bikes to school, they will need to park them at the bike racks at school and then walk across to the track as there are no bikes allowed at the track. Please ensure that your bikes are locked at school.
  • The event will be filmed and photographed by a member of Media Studies staff. If you have any objections to this please contact the Sports Department on 534 7159 ext 738.

You will understand our need to ensure a safe environment for our students. Hence parents only are welcome to attend the athletics day (no friends allowed). There will be a demarcated area for parents to sit and support.
